AMANDER CLARK, PhD
Assistant Professor, Department of Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology

Dr. Amander Clark is a faculty member at the University of California, Los Angeles in the Department of Molecular Cell and Developmental Biology, Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center, Molecular Biology Institute and the Eli and Edythe Broad Center of Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Research.  Dr. Clark obtained her PhD from the University of Melbourne Australia where she investigated the role of growth factors in urogenital development in the mammalian embryo. As a postdoc, Dr Clark generated the first model for creating human germ cells in vitro, enabling the investigation of the first steps in human germ cell development. Clark’s current research is focused on understanding the molecular events that regulate germ cell specification, reprogramming and transformation. Results from this research will aid in understanding and treating infertility, birth defects and germ cell tumors.  Dr Clark is a member of the Hinxton Group, an International Consortium on Stem Cells, Ethics and Law.  She is also an Associate Editor for the Journal BMC Developmental Biology.   Dr Clark’s lab is funded by the National Institute of Health, California Institute for Regenerative Medicine, STOP Cancer and the Lance Armstrong Foundation.
